He studied at theRoyal Dramatic Theatre School 1906-1909 and was engaged by the studies at the Swedish Theatrein Stockholm 1909-1910 and then at the Swedish Theatre in Helsinki 1910-1913 and the IntimateTheatre in Stockholm 1913-1920 and 1920-1921 at Lorensbergsteatern in Gothenburg. He was hired[1] 1925-1927 he made a break from his job at the Royal Dramatic Theatre to engage in film andworked as, among other things, also in the US and Germany. He made ??also own successful toursin Sweden and guest also played in Copenhagen, Oslo and Helsinki. [1] A total of 33 roles heportrayed on film, the majority of known directors as Mauritz Stiller , Sjöström and GustafMolander . He made ??her film debut in 1915 in Mauritz Stiller's dagger, but the breakthroughin 1924, he played the male title role opposite Greta Garbo . This gave him a contract withMGM in Hollywood , where he came to shoot six films in the period 1925-1928, the Greta Garboand Lillian Gish . He married in 1922 with Karin Molander .
